Work Completed 2015

In 2011 the Parish Council arranged to re-layer the hedge bordering
Orchard Field
and
The Village.
The hedge had become significantly overgrown.

In early 2012 the Parish Council accepted the Village Trust's offer to assume responsibility for maintainance of the hedge
and,
after consultation with the City of York's Hedgerow Officer,
work commenced.

The plan is to provide a suitable habitat for flowers and wildlife as well as a visually attractive border to Orchard Field,
a public open space which was part of the ancient settlement of Skelton.

The hedgerow - along with its neighbour in Orchard View -
will be kept at a height which allows open views between
Orchard Field/The Pasture, The Green and Church.
