VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT

Throughout the country, planning authorities are encouraging villages to produce their own Village Design Statement (VDS),
the purpose of which is to guide and influence future development so that the character and distinctiveness of the village are protected and enhanced.
 
During 2007 and 2008 a volunteer steering group, in consultation with the inhabitants of the village and other interested parties,
compiled a VDS for Skelton,
which was approved as an Interim Planning Statement
by the City of York Planning Committee on October 23rd 2008.
 
The published document has been delivered to every household in
Skelton parish and to all interested agencies.
